My 1st Birthday and we had a family party !! |

I am very proud to announce that we have finally passed Bronze level at AMCBT. To pass we had to do two emergency recalls, one with distractions and one without, do a watch me for ten seconds, leave food on command and be able to walk past dropped food on the floor without trying to eat it, walk at heel for forty paces, allow us to groom and examine her properly without Adhara trying to pull away, doorway manners, to leave a toy on command and not jump at it when held above our head, socialisation, one minute stay, one in a sit position and one in down, and finally the emergency down. I think the emergency down was the hardest part of this course as Adhara really does not like leaving my side, and the trainer had to lure her away for two meters and then I had to command her to down and stay. To pass Adhara could not take a step towards me or break the down position until I was beside her and gave her the command. It took ages for Adhara to allow herself to be lured away! However, this was quite handy for the recall as Adhara cannot get back to me quick enough! We are now moving on to Silver and I have seen the requirements to pass, it looks really tough! We will have to do most of the above off lead and for longer durations of time. I am so happy and proud of Adhara: going out with her is a pleasure as she is so well behaved on and off the lead. The training we are doing is such an enjoyable way of us to spend time together. She loves it as much as I do. We will be starting agility training soon, something which I think she will love, I just hope I can keep up with her!!

Adhara came to live with us on the 15th September 2014. She is my family’s first dog and I really wanted to make sure I got the right breed and puppy to fit in with our lifestyle. |
